“Oman and Zanzibar Strengthen Bilateral Ties: Focus on Economic, Cultural, and Health Cooperation”
KARACHI: Local Government (LG) Department arranged a day-long training session for volunteers from Sindh girls Scouts on Covid-19 issues at the office of Sindh Boys Scouts Association on Sunday.
Expert psychologists of LG PSS programme conducted detail session on basic Psycho Social Support Services for preparing volunteers to ensure the well-being of affected communities, and counter-acts the threats to public health and safety that fear, stigmatization and misconception pose.
They were also trained on access to correct information, knowledge about the virus and its spreads, and make it easier for the affected people to feel supported and calm, and to comply with instructions and SOPs.
Briefing about the program, the Secretary Local Government Roshan Ali Shaikh said “We can effectively fight Corona Virus pandemic only if all sections of our people are well informed and know how to deal with this virus.”
The workshop held for the Sindh Female Scouts, while it was also held for boy scouts last week. The programme was organised with the cooperation of UNDP (United Nations Development Program).
The idea behind the execution of the workshop was to educate the female scouts about the Psycho Social Support program for Covid-19 affected people. The female scouts have always played an important role in countering various difficult situations across the country and in the current pandemic crisis, the scouts can play a vital role in spreading awareness about the prevention against the Corona”.
Roshan said “With support of Scouts, PSS program will be further extended at community level to reach out the maximum vulnerable people with need of PSS/Mental health services in this pandemic.”
