(ONA) —- Sayyid Hamoud Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, accompanied by some members of the Main Committee of the Shura Council’s 10th Term Elections, paid a visit today to the operations chamber to oversee the elections system. They followed up the functioning of the apps hosted in Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel)’s e-cloud.
Sayyid Hamoud lauded the efforts made to provide communications services in all villages, wilayats and governorates of Oman. The services enable citizens to electronically cast their votes, Sayyid Hamoudaffirmed.
On his turn, Talal Said Al Ma’amari, CEO of Omantel told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the security systems operate with high efficiency and that no cyber-attack attempts have been reported.
Al Ma’amari added that the voting process through “Antakhib” app is part of the digital transition taking place in the Sultanate of Oman.
Al Ma’amari pointed out that this drive proves that technology can be utilized in complex and sensitive operations like the electoral process, which promises to bring about fruitful outcomes. He valued the efforts made by the government and private sectors to streamline the election process.
He affirmed that new mechanisms, including artificial intelligence, have been added to augment the systems running the election process to help them accommodate activities of the largest number of voters. The step seeks to provide decision makers and members of the public with a clear and timely vision about the progress of the election process.
