Brussels
The European Automobile Manufacturers Association announced today that new car registrations in the European Union declined in January, amid weak sales in three major markets.
New car sales fell by 2.6% compared to the previous year, following a 5.1% increase in December. Car registrations dropped by 6.2% in France and by 5.8% in Italy.
In Germany, car registrations decreased by 2.8%. On the other hand, Spain recorded an increase in car registrations of 5.3%.
It is worth noting that total car sales declined despite a rise in demand for electric vehicles.
