MUSCAT:
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has officially declared November 20 as Oman’s National Day, marking a significant moment in the nation’s history.
In his address on Accession Day, His Majesty emphasized the historical significance of this date, stating, “November 20 of each year will be a National Day for the Sultanate of Oman, which is the day on which the Al Busaidi family was honoured to serve this dear country since the year 1744 AD at the hands of the founding Imam, Sayyid Ahmed bin Said Al Busaidi, who unified the banner of the Omani nation and led its struggle and great sacrifices for the sake of complete sovereignty over the land of Oman and freedom and dignity for its honourable sons.”
This proclamation aligns with the enduring legacy of the Al Busaidi family, reflecting the unity and sovereignty established under Imam Sayyid Ahmed bin Said Al Busaidi, the founder of the modern Omani state.
