This evening, the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre celebrated the conclusion of the events of the Oman Climate Week “Life in a Sustainable World”, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Said bin Hamad Al-Rabaie, President of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences. In his speech, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Omari, President of the Environment Authority, said that the Oman Climate Week events hosted by the Sultanate of Oman under the theme “Living in a Sustainable World” witnessed many sessions and workshops during which participants looked for solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change and unite global efforts.
His Excellency underscored the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to all conventions and protocols dealing with the environment and climate change and keeping pace with global issues in order to ensure that the goals of curbing climate change are achieved, and to support the adoption and expansion of solutions.
His Excellency thanked the international agencies, organizations and institutions of higher education in the Sultanate of Oman, researchers, interested persons and participating scientific platforms for their efforts for the success of the events of the Oman Climate Week, which demonstrated Oman’s outstanding role in the environmental field. The ceremony included honoring the winners of the Best Research Paper Competition. The first was a paper/promoting energy efficiency to achieve sustainability and resilience with climate change/by Dr. Sertak Behan of Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar, and in the second place/towards inclusive and sustainable management of natural resources: Assessment of Access and Natural Suitability: Assessment of Water, Food and Energy/Professora Khadija Husseini of the Islamic University of Azad, Islamic Republic of Iran. Third place was the paper/Design of Carbon Market-based Policy Support and Storage through Mineralization – Case Study in the Sultanate of Oman/Hindi-eer researcher from Imperial College ial, London K UK.
