The Croatian educational delegation visited today the Science and Technology Center affiliated with the General Directorate of the Ministry of Education in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The center consists of 11 halls and scientific laboratories that include numerous innovations and modern scientific technologies in the fields of robotics, interactive education, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and security.
The delegation also visited several Omani schools affiliated with UNESCO in the Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, and North Al Batinah Governorates to learn about their various activities and programs. They attended some classes, observed school events and activities, and witnessed the creativity and innovations of students in various fields. Additionally, the delegation members visited several Omani sites listed by UNESCO, including Jabreen Castle, as well as several cultural institutions, including the Museum of Oman Through the Ages, the Royal Opera House Muscat, and the forts of Muttrah and Sohar, concluding their visit to the Sultanate of Oman, which lasted several days.
At the closing ceremony, Yusriah bint Suleiman Al-Harthi, Director of the UNESCO Associated Schools and Youth Clubs Division, stated: “As we celebrate the success of this cultural exchange, we look forward to continuing cooperation between our two countries to strengthen deeper ties and mutual understanding. We hope that this visit serves as a foundation for greater cultural and educational partnerships in the future between us.”
For his part, the head of the Croatian delegation expressed his happiness with the visit, saying: “It was a simple yet very special experience where we learned about the educational system in the Sultanate of Oman, as well as the customs and traditions of its people, making this visit an opportunity to build mutual partnerships and establish new cultural ties between our two friendly countries.”
It is noteworthy that the twinning program aims to enhance understanding of cultural heritage among students from both sides, promote human values such as tolerance, understanding, and mutual respect, exchange experiences and best practices in education and learning, and foster mutual understanding between different cultures while discussing climate and environmental issues, science and technology, student entrepreneurship, and celebrating international days.
During the academic year (2023-2024), the network of Omani schools associated with UNESCO has implemented several twinning programs with counterparts in Brunei Darussalam, Greece, Palestine, Denmark, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, as well as with Denmark, Croatia, Poland, and Qatar. This is conducted through visual communication technology between schools from both sides.
The closing ceremony of the visit, which included a visual presentation about the delegation’s visit program, was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education.
