Nama Water Services unveils strategic projects in the water sector.

Muscat

Nama Water Services Company has signed four agreements to implement strategic projects in the water sector, including the design and implementation of water distribution networks in the Wilayats of Ibri, Yanqul, and Dhank in the Al Dhahirah Governorate (first and second packages), the establishment of water networks in the Wilayats of Samail and Izki in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, and the construction of sewage networks in Al Ansab in the Muscat Governorate.

This took place during a ceremony organized by the company today in Muscat under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Water Resources.

Qais bin Saud Al Zakwani, CEO of Nama Water Services Company, stated that the company aims to achieve sustainability in the water sector and ensure water security in the Sultanate of Oman by implementing a package of current and future strategic projects across various governorates.

In his speech, he added that the company is currently working on executing 27 projects with a total cost exceeding 700 million Omani Rials to enhance the water and sewage system in the governorates and wilayats covered by the company’s services, from Musandam Governorate to Al Wusta Governorate. He pointed out that these projects contribute approximately 193 million Omani Rials to the local added value.

He noted that these projects represent an important addition to expanding the coverage of water networks in the Sultanate of Oman, exceeding 72.80%, and increasing the number of beneficiaries of the company’s services to reach 937,970 subscribers. He explained that these projects include the water transfer project from the desalination plant in Sohar to Al Dhahirah Governorate, the project to enhance the water system between the desalination plants in Barka and Sohar, the project to strengthen the water transfer system to Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, and the project to enhance the water transfer system between the South and North Al Sharqiyah Governorates.

The CEO of Nama Water Services Company emphasized that the Omanization initiative launched by the company through permanent contracts with supporting companies has provided approximately 885 jobs in the water sector, contributing to raising the Omanization rate in these companies to 84%.
