The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the French President’s call to stop supplying weapons to Israeli occupation forces during the ongoing fighting in the Gaza Strip.
“Oman considers this call an important step within the context of international efforts aimed to stop the escalating war and protect innocent civilians from the impacts of the conflict,” said Oman in a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry today.
The statement stressed that the international community should take firm stands to stop the violence and terminate military escalation in the region. It called for adherence to international and humanitarian law, including the “cessation of all forms of military support that fuel the conflict and prolong human suffering”.
The Sultanate of Oman urged all parties to resort to dialogue and endorse a just and comprehensive political solution that guarantees the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, most notably the establishment of their independent state with Al Quds Al Sharqiyah (East Jerusalem) as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
