“Oman and Zanzibar Strengthen Bilateral Ties: Focus on Economic, Cultural, and Health Cooperation”

(ONA) — Three teams from the Sultanate of Oman were shortlisted for participation in the global event titled “NASA Hackathon for Space Applications”, which was recently organized in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States of America (NASA).
The international event will be contested by teams from 185 countries.
The teams nominated for the global event were “Red Space” team which took the lead of candidates, the “Astro Trip” team, which occupied second place, and “The Shooting Stars”.
Wahab Salim Al Husseini, Head of the Media Committee at NASA Hackathon for Space Applications, said that the final stage was aimed at assessing the teams and projects that qualified from direct participation in a related event held on 7 and 8 October 2023.
This is in addition to 62 teams and projects that qualified to participate via videoconferencing for the event two weeks after Oman hosted the event in the Wilayat of Bidiyah, Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah.
Al Husseini pointed out that Oman’s participation in NASA Hackathon for Space Applications event seeks to consolidate the country’s status as a centre for technological innovation and research.
He added that the event aimed to encourage cooperation between academic and industrial institutions at local and international levels, achieve excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship to promote sustainable development, establish a sustainable partnership and enhance the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
