Oman: In May 2023, the private sector witnessed a year-on-year increase in the proportion of expatriate workers, reaching 14.45%, which accounted for a total of 1.4 million individuals.
According to statistics from the National Center for Statistics and Information, as reported by Opal Capital, the percentage of expatriates in the family sector experienced a significant rise of 22.10% compared to the previous year. This increase resulted in a total of 327 thousand expatriate workers in the family sector.
Furthermore, the government sector also saw a substantial year-on-year growth of 32.68% in the number of expats employed, reaching a total of 44 thousand individuals. Consequently, the overall number of expatriates in various sectors reached 1.78 million by the end of May.
