“Oman and Zanzibar Strengthen Bilateral Ties: Focus on Economic, Cultural, and Health Cooperation”
The Kingdom of Morocco will host, in collaboration between the General Secretariat of the Arab League and the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Communication of the Kingdom, the 53rd session of the Arab Ministers of Information Council on June 21 of the current year. The preparations for the session will be conducted through the 17th Executive Bureau meeting and the 99th session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media, which will take place on the 19th and 20th of the same month, respectively.
Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, who leads the delegation of the General Secretariat of the Arab League, emphasized that this session was attended by the Ministers of Information from Arab countries, their representatives, and heads of media organizations and associations with observer status at the Ministers of Information Council, will feature a review and assessment of the progress made in implementing the Council’s decisions since the 52nd session held in Cairo, in light of the intensive meetings held at the council’s structures , committees, and working groups within and outside the host country.
The agenda of the meetings includes the continuation of media support for the Palestinian cause, particularly concerning the occupied city of Jerusalem, as well as the follow-up on the Arab media action plan abroad, including the Observatory and the Integrated Platform project. Additionally, the update of the Arab media strategy and the development of its implementation plan, the implementation of the goals of the Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development 2030, the inclusion of media education in the curricula, environmental media, and the formula of a unified strategy for dealing with international media companies will be addressed. This session will also provide an opportunity to learn about the activities of the missions and centers of the Arab League, reports from media organizations and associations, and regulatory issues related to the development of joint media work.
It is expected that the session will witness the election of members of the Executive Bureau of the Arab Ministers of Information Council for its 18th session, in accordance with the provisions of the Council’s bylaws. Moreover, an international seminar on Jerusalem will be held with the participation of a selected group of personalities, academics, experts, and journalists.
