The unified gateway for government services… a qualitative leap in facilitating access to government services.

Muscat

The initiative to launch the unified electronic portal for government services comes as an advanced step aimed at redefining the way government services are delivered and enhancing the digital experience for users. It represents a qualitative leap in facilitating access for citizens and residents to government services and speeding up transactions through a unified digital platform.

His Excellency Engineer Said bin Hamoud Al-Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, and the general supervisor of the National Program for Government Digital Transformation, stated that the launch of the unified government services portal reflects the government’s strategic direction to restructure the model of delivering government services to be more efficient and flexible.

He added that the portal serves as a unified digital platform for government services, allowing beneficiaries to have a comprehensive experience in obtaining information and government services without the need to navigate between the various ministry portals and their websites.

His Excellency pointed out that one of the main objectives of this unified portal is to change the model of interaction between the government and beneficiaries through a unified channel to enhance the position of the Sultanate of Oman globally in the field of digital services, providing a comprehensive user experience aligned with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, while focusing on enhancing government performance according to the best standards of institutional governance.

He explained that the implementation of the unified government services portal was achieved through close cooperation between various government institutions, along with a strategic partnership with the Oman Investment Authority represented by the “Idka” Group, to achieve digital integration, simplify procedures, and enhance the user experience. The first phase of the project included the participation of ten government entities: the Royal Oman Police, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Development, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, the Social Protection Fund, in addition to the Supreme Judicial Council, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, and the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer Al-Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, stated that digital transformation has become an urgent necessity to keep pace with rapid technological developments. The unified portal represents a turning point in the way government services are provided by simplifying complex procedures and reducing the number of visits required to complete transactions, thereby enhancing citizens’ and residents’ trust in the efficiency of government performance.

He clarified that the unified portal is a digital guide that includes comprehensive information about government services, making it easier to access them according to a clear classification that considers the needs of various beneficiary groups. He pointed out that the first phase of the project will take place this year and aims to provide 91 integrated digital services from ten government institutions, with services being launched sequentially according to a specific timeline. Work is ongoing to develop the digital infrastructure of the portal and improve technical systems.
