AYRSHIRE, Scotland:
HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his accompanying delegation departed Scotland on Thursday after a visit at the personal invitation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. HH the Amir was seen off by Kuwait Ambassador to the UK Bader Abdullah Al-Munayyekh and British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis.
Earlier, HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal and King Charles exchanged the Kuwaiti bisht and Scottish kilt at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland. The Scottish kilt and Kuwaiti bisht were made with a special tartan design, which combines traditional textile materials, patterns, colors and techniques from both the United Kingdom and Kuwait, to celebrate the two countries’ “125 Years of Partnership”.
Lewis said HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal is keen on supporting educational initiatives by organizing mutual programs between Kuwait and the UK. This came in a statement by Ambassador Lewis to KUNA and Kuwait TV on the visit of HH the Amir and an official delegation to the headquarters of the King’s Foundation in Dumfries House to view its educational activities and events.
The ambassador affirmed that many educational projects were initiated by King Charles III at Dumfries House. She noted Dumfries House was chosen for the visit because it provides opportunities to develop traditional and heritage skills and crafts among local residents and those from outside the UK. All the activities held are environmentally friendly, such as sustainable food production and the preservation of rare species of plants and fruits over vast areas in Scotland. — KUNA
