(BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received Metropolitan Anthony Sevryuk of Volokolamsk, the Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, at Al Sakhir Palace, on the occasion of his visit to the Kingdom.
HM the King welcomed Metropolitan Anthony and the accompanying delegation, commending his efforts to promote interfaith dialogue and strengthen the values of goodwill and mutual respect.
His Majesty expressed pride in Bahrain’s long-standing history of harmony and coexistence, noting that religious acceptance is a deeply rooted aspect of Bahraini society, fostered by the awareness of its people, their adherence to noble human values, and their respect for followers of other religions.
HM, the King emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to establishing communication and promoting peace among all nations, highlighting the Kingdom’s leadership in adopting global initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of harmony and coexistence for the benefit of humanity.
His Majesty discussed with Metropolitan Anthony several topics related to promoting a culture of dialogue, adhering to moderation and balance, and rejecting extremism and fanaticism.
Metropolitan Anthony expressed his gratitude to HM the King and to Bahrain’s recognition, support, and inclusivity towards all religions, as well as its facilitation of places of worship for diverse faiths. He commended Bahrain’s efforts, under the leadership of His Majesty, to promote the values of peace, coexistence, and mutual respect among nations and religions.
