The 18th Annual Forum of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) began in Muscat today under the auspices of Sheikh Dr. Ali Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ).
The event, hosted by OQ Group, brings together ministers, GCC energy leaders, corporate executives and over 2,600 attendees from 43 countries. As a vital platform for collaboration and innovation in the petrochemical sector, the forum underscores the region’s commitment to advancing global industry standards.

He highlighted the region’s efforts to transition to clean and alternative energy sources, embrace digitalization, and implement strict measures to reduce carbon emissions, while preserving natural ecosystems and ensuring sustainable growth.
The forum’s exhibition, featuring over 110 companies, showcases groundbreaking petrochemical innovations and advancements.

Attendees were introduced to OQ’s strategic initiatives aimed at achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, including investments in alternative energy, energy intensity reduction programmes, and an integrated energy management system.
