The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman was headed by Ahmed bin Salim Al Rujabi, SAI Deputy Chairman of Audit of Government Units.

The meeting aimed to enhance the exchange of information and investigations between law enforcement authorities in an efficient and rapid manner, in order to facilitate the prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of crimes covered by the “Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention”. This targets contributing to enhancing the exchange of technical assistance, training and expertise between the States Parties, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of their exchange of information and investigations regarding crimes covered by this Convention.

The meeting included adopting the agenda and work program, announcing the formation of the Bureau, and approving draft resolutions discussed during the senior officials’ meeting, including urging countries to sign and ratify the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention. It also worked on preparing a technical and legislative guide to facilitate its implementation, establishing an open-ended government expert team, organizing a forum to promote integrity in the tourism sector, and developing methodologies and indicators to measure corruption rates and the effectiveness of anti-corruption frameworks.

On the sidelines of the meeting, several bilateral meetings and workshops were held, including a session on “Promoting Cross-Border Corruption Issues through the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE)” and a workshop entitled “The UNDP Global Initiative to Measure Corruption Rates”, which aimed to foster the exchange of expertise and activate areas of cooperation between member States.
