Muscat – The Governorate of North Sharqiyah, in collaboration with Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, hosted an interactive seminar titled ‘Mudayrib deserves it’ on Monday in the wilayat of Al Qabil.
Sheikh Mahmoud bin Rashid al Saadi, Wali of Al Qabil, emphasised the significance of the initiative, highlighting the historical importance of Mudayrib Souq.
The urban renewal initiative is part of broader efforts to rejuvenate and rehabilitate areas in alignment with Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning’s Regional Urban Strategy 2040.
The wali highlighted the fact that the interactive seminar, involving various public and private institutions, besides local community members, aimed to generate ideas, initiatives and proposals to revitalise the market and safeguard its archaeological elements. The goal is to preserve the rich historical legacy of the market, renowned as one of the oldest and most esteemed local markets in the sultanate.
The seminar featured a visual presentation of the souq and included practical training activities for all participants.
