Sultan Qaboos University celebrated today the graduation of the second cohort from the 34th batch of students across its faculties of Humanities, Law, Education, Economics and Political Sciences, Arts, and Social Sciences. The ceremony, held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Falah bin Mohammed Al Harthy, the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, took place at the university’s open theater.
In his address, His Highness Dr. Fahd bin Al Jalanda Al Said, President of Sultan Qaboos University, expressed, “Over the past years, Sultan Qaboos University has steadfastly moved towards the future, outlining the contours of tomorrow by preparing generations with scientific expertise, essential knowledge, future skills, and requirements.”
He added, “The university continues to enrich the nation with qualified competencies to serve its institutions, enhance its capabilities, and preserve its authenticity and achievements. It anticipates the aspirations of this beloved nation and its citizens, guided by the noble thoughts of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik – may God protect and preserve him – in realizing its vision and fulfilling its mission in serving the Sultanate of Oman in various fields.”
The ceremony included the graduation of Ph.D. recipients from various faculties, including 11 graduates from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, 8 from the Faculty of Education, 93 Master’s graduates from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, 52 from the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, 97 from the Faculty of Education, and 33 from the Faculty of Law.
Furthermore, the event marked the graduation of Bachelor’s degree holders, with 448 graduates from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, 439 from the Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, 365 from the Faculty of Education, and 170 from the Faculty of Law.
The ceremony featured a speech by the graduate Baraa bin Hamad Al Adawi from the Faculty of Education, who reflected on the journey of acquiring knowledge, its challenges, and the sweetness of its fruits. He emphasized that their journey does not end here but marks the beginning of another phase dedicated to diligent work for the nation’s upliftment.
The festivities concluded with His Excellency Sheikh Falah bin Mohammed Al Harthy, the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, presenting certificates to the graduates.
It is worth noting that the total number of graduates from the 34th batch of Sultan Qaboos University amounted to 2977, encompassing both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including master’s and doctoral degrees.
