The Ministry of Social Development has launched a project to enhance the job description card for positions within the ministry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and the Omani Association for Human Resource Management. This project is a crucial initiative aimed at benefiting the human resources of the Ministry of Social Development, significantly contributing to improving work quality, identifying competencies and general capabilities for each position, and providing clear training and development paths for each human resource.
The inauguration ceremony was held under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Leila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, the Minister of Social Development. The event was attended by dignitaries and invited guests, including employees from various positions within the ministry.
Abdullah bin Rashid Al Rahbi, the Director-General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the ministry, explained that the project aims to review and audit all job description cards, create specific and flexible job descriptions for all positions, and develop the overall structure of the job description card to align with current developments in human resources. The project also aims to build a matrix of general competencies for ministry positions, identify training and development needs for each job title, and use the job description card as a reference for effective talent recruitment.
Al Rahbi noted that the ministry completed the construction of its general competency framework at the beginning of 2023, as part of the projects stemming from the job description card review and development project. The first phase of the project, which included 221 supervisory job titles, has been completed. The second phase, targeting executive positions, is scheduled to begin in 2024.
The ministry is dedicated to supporting its human resources and adopting projects that enhance and develop these resources, including the “Job Description Card Development” project. The completion of this project is expected to have a significant positive impact on human resources, specifically, and the ministry as a whole.
The ceremony included a visual presentation about the project, and the project team was honored during the event. The “Job Description Card Development” project for the Ministry of Social Development went through six main stages: project initiation, data collection and document review, selection of an enhanced job description card model, construction of the general competency framework for the ministry, review of job descriptions for each job title, and the project’s inauguration stage.
