The Ministry of Labor has announced the official working hours for civil administrative units of the state and private sector establishments during the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1446 AH, as follows:
First: Civil Administrative Units of the State:
A. The official working hours during the day will be (5) continuous hours, starting from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
B. Flexible Working Hours: The head of the unit may implement a flexible working hours system and determine the times for employees’ attendance and departure in accordance with the nature of the unit’s work, based on the prescribed working hours, starting from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The working hours will be calculated from the time the employee arrives until the time they leave work, according to the mechanisms followed in the unit.
C. Remote Work: The head of the unit may implement this system for positions that allow for remote work, provided that it does not disrupt the workflow. In all cases, the number of employees required to be present at their workplaces should not be less than (50%) of the total number of employees in the unit.
Second: Private Sector Establishments: The working hours for Muslim employees in private sector establishments will be reduced to (6) hours per day, not exceeding (30) hours per week.
The Ministry of Labor also encourages private sector establishments to adopt modern methods, including the implementation of flexible working hours and remote work – whenever possible – to enhance productivity and achieve a balance between work requirements and the special nature of the holy month.
