Duqm, February 13 /Oman News Agency/ – The third annual leadership forum, titled “Artificial Intelligence and its Employment in Higher Education Institutions,” held in the Wilayat of Duqm in the Al Wusta Governorate, recommended studying the project proposed by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences for Micro Credentials as a pathway that aligns with the requirements and needs of the labor market, as well as developing the relevant policies and frameworks.
At the conclusion of its sessions today, the forum called for the continuous development of the foundational technological infrastructure for artificial intelligence applications, and for establishing a roadmap to ensure their use across all university sectors, enhancing their role in the production and development of artificial intelligence.
The forum emphasized the importance of developing human capacities and competencies within the university and empowering them to utilize its applications. It also directed the investment in artificial intelligence applications and tools in the fields of human resources and employment.
The forum stressed the necessity of expanding partnerships with leading local, regional, and international institutions in modern technologies to benefit from enhancing integration with them and transferring advanced technological experiences and practices to be employed within the university and the community. It also aimed to raise awareness of the uses and importance of artificial intelligence in the business environment and its benefits in higher education, recommending the expansion of related programs at all levels, qualifications, and fields.
Organized by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences over two days, the forum highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in developing the higher education system and enhancing academic and teaching skills in light of rapid digital transformations.
The forum explored the potential for educational institutions to benefit from intelligent learning platforms in providing customized content and accurate assessments, thereby improving the learning experience for students and offering immediate feedback to help them understand how to deal with the available information.
The forum aimed to enhance the educational process and promote digital innovation in academic institutions, starting from improving administrative efficiency, supporting scientific research, and designing modern academic programs to empower students and the community with artificial intelligence skills.
The forum included the presentation of five working papers titled: “Synthetic Data and Artificial Intelligence as Catalysts for Digital Innovation,” “Artificial Intelligence Towards an Innovative Educational Future Enhancing Academic and Teaching Skills in Higher Education Institutions,” “The Journey of Artificial Intelligence in OQ Group,” “Artificial Intelligence Between Reality and Imagination: Strategies for Building a Leading University in Artificial Intelligence,” and “Microsoft Solutions for Artificial Intelligence in Education.”
Accompanying the forum’s activities was a field visit to the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, which included the Duqm Port, the fishing port (Samak Factory), a visit to the dry dock, and the car factory (Karwa), aimed at creating opportunities to enhance partnership, cooperation, and integration between the university and industrial and production sectors, focusing on collaboration in training and qualification, providing consultations and joint research, and finding constructive solutions for factories and companies using modern technological applications, especially artificial intelligence and its applications.
