Today, the fourth day of the annual Al-Bashayer Camel Racing Festival took place at the Al-Bashayer Camel Racing Track in the Wilayat of Adam, Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate. The event saw participation from camel owners and trainers from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The morning session featured eight races over a distance of 8 kilometers, including four races for the “Thaniya” category, three races for the “Hawl” category, and one race for the “Jumool” category. Additionally, there were two races for the human-rider category, one covering a distance of 1.5 kilometers, and another endurance race covering 12 kilometers in the evening session, with the participation of 260 camels and stallions. The results were as follows:
In the first race for the Thaniya category, “Injaz” owned by Said bin Salem Al-Jadaili took first place. In the second Thaniya race, “Al-Ghazal” owned by Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Durai took first place. In the third Thaniya race, “Al-Shaybah” owned by Mohammed bin Salem Al-Na’imi secured first place.
In the fourth Thaniya race, “Wasfah” owned by Mohammed bin Hamid Al-Junaibi came in first. In the fifth race for the Hawl category, “Al-Tayyara” owned by Khraibish bin Mohammed Al-Wahibi took first place. In the sixth race for the Jumool category, “Makhlab” owned by Hamid bin Hamad Al-Omari came in first, while in the seventh race for the Hawl category, “Al-Nud” owned by Al-Abd bin Mohammed Al-Zar’i took first place.
In the Jumool race for institutions, “Bilsan” from the Royal Camel Corps, trained by Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Wahibi, took first place. In the human-rider race for the Thaniya category, “Al-Shamkha” owned by Amer bin Salem Al-Zar’i came in first, while “Dandana” owned by Amer bin Salem Al-Zar’i secured first place in the human-rider race for the Hawl category. “Mudhish” owned by Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Amri won first place in the endurance race.
At the conclusion of the races, the winners of the top positions in the human-rider and endurance races were honored.
It is worth mentioning that the closing of the eighth annual Al-Bashayer Camel Racing Festival will take place this coming Saturday at the Al-Bashayer track in the Wilayat of Adam, featuring four main races for the Thaniya and Hawl categories, along with a presentation of several traditional Omani heritage performances and arts.
