The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Finance, is participating in the Global Government Summit 2025, which commenced today in the Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Omani delegation is headed by His Excellency Sultan bin Salem Al Habsi, Minister of Finance.
This year’s summit is themed “Envisioning the Governments of the Future,” focusing on a new governance agenda where governments emphasize investing in innovation and technology to address global challenges.
The summit’s discussions will center on enhancing the pace of growth and change for effective governments, artificial intelligence and new future prospects, a new vision for development and future economies, the future of education and the aspirations of tomorrow’s societies, sustainability and new global transformations, as well as global health transformations.
The participating delegation attended several accompanying events, including a session titled “Enhancing Resilience: Shaping the Future of the Gulf Cooperation Council Economy Amid Regional and Global Challenges,” organized by the UAE Ministry of Finance and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council. They also attended a high-level closed session titled “Reimagining the Future of Multilateral Cooperation and the Future Fund,” in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund. His Excellency Mahmoud bin Abdullah Al Awaini, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, participated in the Ninth Forum on Public Finance in Arab Countries, in cooperation with the Arab Monetary Fund and the International Monetary Fund, to discuss options for designing fiscal policies, developing tax systems, addressing debt challenges and budget deficits, and exploring ways to enhance financial and economic integration, as well as the importance of developing public financial policies in line with technological advancements.
The summit features participation from numerous world leaders, heads of governments, ministers, officials, heads of international organizations, and experts in financial, economic, and social affairs from various countries, aimed at exchanging experiences, knowledge, and ideas that contribute to enhancing development and prosperity worldwide.
