The Sultanate of Oman takes part as a guest of honour in the 48th session of Baghdad International Fair.
The participation aims at enhancing trade and investment relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq, and opening new horizons for cooperation in various economic sectors, in addition to backing partnership opportunities between Omani and Iraqi companies and utilizing the available investment opportunities.
Oman’s delegation took part in the opening of the economic forum accompanying Bagdad International Fair, which witnesses the participation of 20 countries and more than 1000 companies. This huge participation makes the event as a major platform for showcasing products and services and strengthening business partnerships between business persons from different countries around the world.
Oman’s delegation was headed by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
The Omani delegation met with Ghassan Farhan, Iraqi Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce. Members of the delegation also held a meeting with some Iraqi business persons to explore investment opportunities and discuss means of enhancing cooperation in the areas of trade, industry and logistic services.
In a statement, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion stressed the importance of expanding trade relations, noting that the Iraqi market represents a promising opportunity for investment.
On his turn, Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) underlined the significance of enhancing economic partnership between business persons of the two countries. He pointed out that trade and investment cooperation would contribute to supporting joint economic growth and creating new opportunities for the private sector.
The Sultanate of Oman is participating in the fair with a pavilion that comprises more than 30 Omani companies representing various economic sectors, such as industry, trade, logistics, energy and technology.
