Al Kifah Team Management Commends Green Sports Programme’s Importance

MUSCAT,

Building on the success of Bank Muscat’s Green Sports programme and its active engagement in supporting local sports teams across Oman, the Bank recently celebrated the inauguration of the lighting system project for the Al Kifah Sports team in the Willayat of Sohar. The event was organised under the auspices of H.E. Sheikh Saif Khalid Al Raisi, Member of Shura Council – Representative of the Willayat of Liwa, and was attended by bank officials and team members.

The Green Sports programme provided support for the installation of artificial turf or natural grass on sports fields, as well as floodlighting and water-desalination systems. It has undoubtedly contributed significantly to the development of Omani sporting potential. The programme is an effective way to channel the energy and abilities of Omani youngsters in a beneficial manner. Importantly, it is creating a pipeline of talented players who will be able to represent the country at every level in the future. There is no doubt that it has a favourable environmental impact. Notably, Green Sports fields across the country are used by local communities for a variety of activities other than sports.

On this occasion, Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Shizawi, Regional Manager – Al Dhahira, Bank Muscat, said: “I would like to take this occasion to congratulate the Al Kifah team’s management and members on the launch of the lighting system project. Since its inception in 2012, the Green Sports programme has achieved a number of milestones. The Bank is eager to invest in this long-term plan to help improve green spaces. We are happy of our accomplishment in this area, and the Bank will continue to inaugurate new projects across Oman to satisfy the demands of local sports teams.”

On his part, Issa Abdullah Al Balushi, Head of Al Kifah Sports team in Sohar, said: “We are pleased to take this occasion to show our appreciation for Bank Muscat’s participation in supporting local sports teams. Through this project, we will continue to strengthen the team’s role in helping young talents by creating an appropriate environment for them to grow and advance in their sports careers. We also want to continue to serve the community as a whole by hosting various community activities and events in this area.”

A number of team members also expressed their opinions on the team’s role in developing their abilities and providing support facilities for them to carry out various activities. Asim Ali Al Khan, said: “We are thrilled with the new addition of the Al-Kahf field, which has given us a better opportunity to maximise the players’ potential. Local sports fields make a vital contribution to creating a suitable environment while also supporting and expanding Oman’s sports sector.”

In addition, Abdullah Ali Al Barmani, said: “Since these fields serve a significant part of the community across a range of age groups, the numerous events that the sports teams host are crucial in supporting the sports clubs, the young, and the community at large. We are happy to commend Bank Muscat’s dedication to carrying out this sustainable programme.”

Muscat Bank has been keen to expand its social responsibility activities through its well-received and prosperous sustainable initiatives. Every year, there is intense competition among sports teams to take advantage of the areas of support offered by the Green Sports program, which is one of the most significant initiatives of sustainable social responsibility. Since its establishment, 203 teams have benefited from it, and there are roughly 70,000 beneficiaries overall. The Bank will keep working together and improving communication with stakeholders in order to maximise the utilisation of community-serving green areas and reap the long-term benefits of the Green Sports programme.
