Gold traded in a narrow range today as investors stayed away from taking big positions ahead of the US presidential election and the Federal Reserve policy meeting later this week.
Spot gold ticked 0.1% down to $2,733.39 per ounce.
Bullion hit a record high of $2,790.15 last week.
US gold futures edged lower by 0.1% to $2,742.40 per ounce.
Among other precious metals, spot silver was flat at $32.46 per ounce, platinum lost 0.1% to $982.50, and palladium rose 0.2% to $1,076.50.
