Under the theme ‘TechXelerate,’ Omantel hosted its Technology Summit on Tuesday evening, gathering senior officials and decision-makers from across Oman.
The summit, Omantel’s flagship technology event of the year, aimed to showcase the company’s latest innovations and integrated telecom and ICT solutions, particularly those tailored for government institutions and private sector organisations, to support Oman’s digital transformation journey.
The event featured a captivating 3D mapping video that provided an engaging and innovative perspective on Omantel’s integrated ecosystem and the digital solutions it offers through its subsidiaries, empowered by its global partnerships.
The summit included a keynote speech by Mohammad Gawdat, former Chief Business Officer at Google X, followed by a panel discussion with Talal al Mamari, CEO of Omantel. Together, they explored Omantel’s evolution from a telecommunications company to a leading provider of integrated telecom and ICT solutions, emphasising the company’s active role in driving digital transformation in Oman.
Mamari said, “Digital technologies and innovative solutions are essential for supporting the overall journey of digital transformation. As the key enabler of this transformation in Oman, we are dedicated to keeping our government and major private sector clients informed about the latest technologies and how they can meet diverse institutional needs while advancing their digital initiatives.”
The summit also highlighted the ‘Intakhib’ system, a project implemented by Omantel in partnership with the Ministry of Interior. This system digitises the voting process for the Shura Council, enhancing integrity and transparency while making it easier for citizens inside and outside Oman to participate. The Intakhib system incorporates advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, ensuring high levels of security.
Omantel boasts the most extensive telecommunications network in Oman, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and fiber optics. It is also a leading player in the region for wholesale and international connectivity services, investing in over 20 submarine cable systems.
