Dhofar:
Dhofar Municipality is proceeding with execution of four main road projects in Salalah as part of the efforts for development of the infrastructure and for smooth traffic and development of the road network in Dhofar Governorate.
The total cost of the projects is OMR 34 million.
The planning for these projects has taken into account the fast delivery of the projects and that the works of the projects should not affect traffic during the upcoming Khareef Season and that any remaining construction works should be resumed following the next Khareef Season.
Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Ba’awain , Director General of the Directorate General of Projects and Technical Affairs at Dhofar Municipality said that the contract value of the 9-km Dualisation of Sultan Qaboos Road project is OMR16, 300.
The dual road project includes two lanes each course, internal road shoulders, parking lots and a service road at Al Dahaliz area for the length of 800 metres, he added.
The project also includes a number of traffic signals and interchanges and protection works among other works.
As for the dualisation of Al Farouq Road Project, he said that the construction works started at the end of March 2024 and would continue for two years.
He added that the cost of the project is OMR4.5 million.
The works of Ateen Tunnel Project started last April and would continue for two years at the cost of OMR7.5 million, he said.
The tunnel project aimed to ensure smooth traffic at the crossing of 18 November Road with Ateen Road through replacement of the current roundabout with a tunnel, he added.
