SEDD, MoIAT organise workshop on ‘Industrial Technology Transformation Index’

SHARJAH,

(WAM) — Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), in cooperation with Ministry of industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), organised a workshop under the title “The Industrial Technology Transformation Index – ITTI” at YourSpace Al Jada.

The workshop addressed the objectives of the Industrial Technology Transformation Index, which include encouraging industrial companies in the UAE to adopt advanced technologies, Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions, and sustainable industrial solutions, which enables industrial companies to make data-backed decisions to allocate resources more effectively.

The workshop also discussed the importance of industrial technological transformation in enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the industrial sector in the UAE, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, to enhance the ease of running business in the industrial sector, thus to support UAE government’s 2031 goals to achieve self-sufficiency and industrial security, enhance national added value and raise the competitive efficiency of the country’s industries.

Commenting on this workshop, Mariam Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director of Industrial Affairs Department at SEDD, confirmed that the workshop falls within the Department’s plan to introduce the Industrial Technology Transformation Index, which is the first of its kind and is an initiative that will enhance industrial sustainability and adopt the solutions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Likely, it will enhance UAE’s goals to achieve sustainability and climate neutrality, in addition to stimulating investment attractiveness in the industrial sector locally and internationally.

Furthermore, Al Suwaidi stressed that SEDD focuses on cooperating with MoIAT to create an ideal environment with a high and aware culture, following the best international practices to ensure an attractive and suitable industrial business environment for investors, ensuring sustainable industrial development, confirming the best economic practices in the emirate’s markets, and to enhance the economic and industrial status of Sharjah. Also, Al Suwaidi affirmed that SEDD is committed to work with various workers in these economic and industrial sectors.

Additionally, Al Suwaidi explained that building the knowledge capabilities of partners in the emirate is in line with the strategic objectives of the Department, especially in creating a suitable and attractive business environment for local and international investors in the economic sector in general and the industrial sector in particular, and supporting its growth and enhancing its competitiveness regionally and globally.

This falls within the awareness and guidance role of the Department, based on its keenness to enhance confidence in the emirate’s markets and raise awareness of the approved legal units of measurement, to empower the industrial sector, ensure the sustainability of its development, and contribute to the Department achieving its vision of leading economic development in the emirate.
