Muscat – Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY), represented by the Youth Centre, in collaboration with Oman Oil Marketing Company, has launched the second edition of the ‘Tamkeen’ programme aimed at empowering self-employed individuals.
The programme is designed to equip young people with the skills necessary to transform their talents into viable sources of income as independent business owners. It also seeks to enhance support for these entrepreneurs and promote their work both locally and internationally, while empowering skilled Omani youth and fostering collaboration among various stakeholders.
Amira Mohammed al Balushi, Programmes Manager at Youth Centre, informed that the programme is a result of joint efforts between the latter and Oman Oil. “Implementation of this programme aims to develop young people’s skills and empower them as self-employed individuals, helping them turn personal skills into income sources.”
The programme will feature both virtual and in-person components, encompassing several stages. Over 262 participants from more than 13 fields – including media, technology, software, crafts, science, arts, photography, design, marketing and writing – will benefit.
According to Khamis al Shuaibi, General Manager of Shared Services at Oman Oil, continuation of Tamkeen aligns with the company’s commitment to empowering Omani youth in self-employment. He highlighted the company’s role in supporting young Omanis as they pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions, emphasising the strategic goal of nurturing creativity and innovation among the youth.
