The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the State Audit Institution (SAI), takes part in the 16th Assembly of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), held in New Delhi, the Republic of India. The assembly is held during the period from 24-27 September 2024, with the participation of heads of member SAIs.
Oman’s delegation is headed by Sheikh Ghuson Hilal Al-Alawi, Chairman of State Audit Institution (SAI).
During the meeting, many key topics listed in the agenda were discussed, primarily, review of the report of the Secretariat’s activities for the years (2021-2023), approval of the ASOSAI financial statements for the financial years (2021-2023) and review of the results of external audit of the ASOSAI financial statements for the financial years (2021-2023).The meeting also reviewed a number of reports of the ASOSAI Working Group on Environmental Audit, ASOSAI Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals and the ASOSAI Working Group on Crisis Management Audit.
Furthermore, the meeting reviews the report on the ASOSAI Strategic Plan and the report of the ASOSAI Capacity Building Activities.
The meeting will be concluded by approving the ASOSAI budget for the years (2025-2027), and discussing proposals on the establishment of new working groups, namely, the ASOSAI Working Group on State Owned Enterprise, the ASOSAI Working Group on IT Audit and Data Analysis and the ASOSAI Working Group on Regional and Municipal Audit, in addition to selecting members of the ASOSAI Governing Board and Audit Committee for the period (2024-2027).
On the other hand, Sheikh Ghuson headed the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation in the 9th ASOSAI symposium. During the symposium, the SAI will deliver a presentation on the role of Omani women in the development and the use of modern technology, and the Government efforts towards gender equality and women’s empowerment in the digital environment.
