The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth is organizing a symposium titled “Investment Opportunities in the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth”.
The two-day symposium, which kicked off today, focuses on highlighting the encyclopaedia’s importance in instilling national and cultural values in Omani children and grooming their identity. It identifies the most important opportunities to invest in the encyclopedia cognitively, technically and economically.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Mohammed Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information. It was attended by Sayyid Said Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture.
The symposium discussed a paper titled “The role communication means in boosting awareness about local culture, national values and knowledge treasures in the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth”.
An exhibition of the Omani Encyclopaedia for Youth was opened on the sidelines of the symposium. It showcased methods of selecting text titles, summarizing and paraphrasing them, providing textual data and the stages of linguistic review, design, and final drafts. It also highlighted means of converting texts into images, maps, and graphs to attract the target segment.
