Oman Participates in UNESCO Digital Learning Week in Paris

Paris,

The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Education, is taking part in the activities of the International Conference “UNESCO Digital Learning Week,” which is currently being carried out during the period from 2 to 5 September 2024 at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.

This year, the conference comes under the slogan “Directing Technology in Education”.

Oman’s delegation in the conference is headed by Majid Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs.

UNESCO Digital Learning Week is a major event held annually in the field of digital learning and education transformation. It aims to enhance cooperation and the exchange of views among education leaders, those interested in digital education, policy makers, researchers and practitioners from United Nations agencies, governments, NGOs, and the private sector.

The event comes in order to promote the digital transformation of education. It also aims to ensure the ethical use of artificial intelligence, and how to benefit from it in the learning assessment process; to build educational systems that enhance the relationship between digital transformation and green transformation, empower students and raise their awareness of artificial intelligence technologies, guide and support teachers as users of artificial intelligence in the educational process, and support students in acquiring artificial intelligence competencies as part of digital citizenship education.

During the conference sessions, the delegation of the Sultanate of Oman participated with a scientific paper which reviewed the experience of the Ministry of Education in integrating artificial intelligence into school education. Moreover, the head of the delegation met with the Assistant Director-General for Education at UNESCO, and a number of experts in the organization in the field of education to discuss means of enhancing joint cooperation between the two sides.
