Muscat – Represented by Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT), the sultanate is hosting over 70 tourism companies from France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain and the Nordic countries. The five-day event, titled ‘Hello Europe’, begins on Sunday and aims to strengthen ties between Omani tourism institutions and their European counterparts.
The showcase is part of MHT’s broader efforts to attract tourists from diverse international markets. It seeks to enhance communication and cooperation between local and foreign tourism sectors, promote Oman’s tourism products and experiences, and spotlight recent developments in the sector. The event will facilitate discussions on how to leverage these advancements to meet the ministry’s goals for tourism development and promotion.
Haitham bin Muhammad al Ghassani, Director General of Tourism Promotion in the ministry, explained that hosting European tourism companies helps showcase Oman’s tourist attractions and heritage sites. It also provides a comprehensive view of how these companies can contribute to promoting Oman. He described the event as a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation, attract tourists from target markets and exchange knowledge with European tourism firms.
Ghassani further informed at ‘Hello Europe’ is crucial for positioning Oman as a prominent global tourist destination. It will display the diversity of Oman’s tourism offerings to the European market while facilitating interaction with international tourism companies. The event will include sessions to explore Oman’s cultural and natural heritage, introduce exceptional tourism products and services, and build a cultural exchange platform between the local community and tourists.
Additionally, the event will features interactive sessions to understand international market needs, discussions on developing tourism packages, and brainstorming to enhance Oman’s appeal. Review of various tourism components, from natural and environmental attractions to cultural and civilisational value, held during the event aim to offer an authentic Omani and Arab tourism experience. Visual presentations will highlight Oman’s unique position as a tourist destination.
