Represented by the Ministry of Information, the Sultanate of Oman took part in the 111th meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), held in Tunisia on 25 and 26 June 2024.
The meeting discussed matters related to radio and TV services, media engineering tasks and new media programmes. It also dealt with the 2024 Arab Radio and TV Festival, which takes the slogan “Supporting Palestine.”
Topics on the agenda of the meeting include the ASBU training report, in which Oman took second place in terms of attendance and participation in events and workshops. Oman also took third place in terms of “attendance and participation in training courses organized by the ASBU Media Training Academy”.
In addition, the meeting touched on the role of the ASBU in reporting events in the Palestinian territories in Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. It valued the contribution of the ASBU, which covered the events through its special correspondents. The ASBU also reported events in Sudan and Libya through its special correspondents, it was noted.
