Salalah on March 4th, /Oman News Agency/ – The Municipality of Dhofar has allocated approximately 4 million Omani Rials to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during the year 2023, as part of the commitment to partnership and integration between the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority and the municipality. This initiative is a continuation of the supportive efforts to sustain the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Dhofar Governorate.
The Municipality of Dhofar has consistently provided support throughout its various tourist seasons to small and medium-sized enterprises, aiming to enhance their role in revitalizing the tourism sector. The support also extends to those seeking employment in operating public sites and parks during various tourist seasons in the governorate for the year 2023,
The number of projects benefiting from the operation of event sites amounted to 353 projects and small to medium-sized enterprises. The implemented activities during these tourist seasons provided a package of temporary employment opportunities, benefiting numerous small and medium-sized enterprises and productive families in the governorate.
The supported business activities for small and medium-sized enterprises included both traditional and non-traditional activities. These encompassed retail sales, entertainment activities such as amusement games, cafes, mobile carts, as well as digital solutions based on modern technologies. Among these projects were the management and operation of 20 drones, the management and operation of marine and rural environments. Furthermore, small and medium-sized enterprises were assigned in the management and operation of international shows and events.
