Agreements Inked to Fund 11 Projects of Social Responsibility

Muscat,

(ONA) — The Ministry of Energy and Minerals and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) today signed several agreements with various energy companies to support the implementation of 11 projects to the tune of RO 5 million.

This collaborative endeavor involves seven leading companies in the sector, including Petroleum Development Oman, Occidental Oman, BP Oman, OQ, Daleel Petroleum Company, CC Energy Development Company, and ARA Petroleum.

The agreements encompass the following pivotal projects: Ibri Public Park project, financing medical equipment for Khawla Hospital (Day Clinics) and the Khuta “Steps” Platform project for vocational guidance and career counseling.

During the ceremony, Mohsen Hamad Al Hadrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals highlighted the significant role of these agreements in enhancing the quality of life and achieving sustainable development goals.

On his turn, Najeeb Ali Al Rawas, Governor of A’Dhahirah affirmed the groundbreaking nature of the Ibri Public Park project, emphasizing its significance as the first of its kind in the governorate. The park aligns with the governorate’s vision for future development. Recognizing the importance of public parks as vital community spaces, Governor Al Rawas underscored the role of such projects in providing leisure opportunities.

The ceremony also featured PDO signing several agreements to finance social investment programs in collaboration with various governmental and private entities. These agreements encompassed a diverse range of initiatives, including the establishment of a Fruit Research Center of Excellence at the Agricultural Research Station in Sohar, Funding the provision of interactive screens and surveillance cameras for 62 government schools and supplying 3D printers for 100 government schools.

The projects also include jointly funding the Innovation and Culture Center project in Ibri, the financing of lighting for six road intersections in Shaleem and Al Hallaniyat Islands, and Thumrait, as well as providing equipment for the Center of Excellence in Developmental Pediatrics at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and supporting the programmes of the Endowment Foundation to Support Education (Siraj).

Reflecting on these endeavors, Eng. Abdul Amir Abdul Hussein Al Ajmi, External Affairs and Value Creation Director at PDO, highlighted the program’s commitment to sustainability and continuity in meeting society’s basic needs. These projects, focused on developing community infrastructure, supporting the health sector, and advancing education and scientific research.
