The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture announced today the launch of two accelerators, “Sudrah” and “Reef,” aimed at enhancing and developing entrepreneurship in the sectors of environment and agriculture, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
Tech Entrepreneurs Accelerator
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this announcement was made during the graduation ceremony of the Tech Entrepreneurs Accelerator (3), which includes areas such as environmental sustainability technologies, metaverse, and tourism. The program brought together entrepreneurs and the tech community under the umbrella of sustainable environmental technologies in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
The ministry clarified that the Sudrah accelerator program is the first of its kind in the region concerning the targeted sectors and the selected leading locations, including Riyadh, London, and Silicon Valley in the United States. Similarly, the Reef accelerator program is also the first of its kind in the region in terms of the targeted sectors and selected leading locations, which include Riyadh and London.
Eligible Companies for Application in the Accelerators
The Ministry of Environment stated that the eligible companies for application in the accelerators are startups in the sectors of environment and agriculture, along with related technologies. Additionally, early-stage and advanced startups, as well as those aspiring to expand their operations beyond the Kingdom, are qualified to apply.
Timeline for the Accelerators
The timeline for both accelerators is set for the second quarter of 2024. The accelerators are expected to provide significant opportunities in the fields of environmental and agricultural technologies, food technologies, and deep technologies.
It is noteworthy that the Sudrah and Reef business accelerators are part of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture’s efforts to develop its sectors in the Kingdom. These efforts aim to stimulate innovation, encourage the creation of creative solutions to environmental challenges, promote local output, create job opportunities, increase local content, and establish startups to contribute to achieving food security in the Kingdom.
