Manama,
A training course on the qualities of a full-fledged broadcaster kicked off in Bahrain today, and will run until December 7.
The course is co-organised by the Ministry of Information and the Gulf Radio and Television Corporation, with the participation of over 50 media professionals.
Mansour Ali Al Qarni, Director of Media Training at Gulf Radio and Television, praised Bahrain’s hosting of the course, bringing together media professionals from various Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Hee emphasised the importance of the message of GCC media, which aims to achieve the goals and visions of GCC leaders for their countries’ growth and progress.
The course, which involves over 50 trainees, is part of the GCC official media entities’ interest in media training, he said.
The course is in line with the recommendations of the GCC Standing Committee for Media Training’s seventh meeting, held in September 11, 2023, and aligns with Bahrain’s training calendar for 2023, he added.
Al Qarni pointed out that over a thousand trainees participated in Gulf Radio and Television Corporation’s training courses this year, aimed at supporting distinguished young GCC media competencies.
The training courses are part of the comprehensive vision for future training at the Gulf Cooperation Council, based on member states’ requests and modern programmes, Al Qarni said.
Marym Faqihi, a media trainer, indicated that the course adapts to the digital and social media era, requiring skills in visual marketing, social communication, and understanding algorithms for these platforms.
The course, outlined by Faqihi, is divided into five themes. The first day focuses on creative content creation, including writing and audio text, interview preparation, and question formulation. The second day covers presentation skills, including speech, voice control, dialogue management, and linguistic intuition. The third day focuses on audio material’s artistic and technical aspects, including montage, directing, music, and engineering.
On the fourth day, Mohannad Al Noaimi, Communication and International Relations Advisor at the Ministry of Information, will discuss creating visual content for social media and understanding marketing algorithms.
The course will conclude with practical applications for media professionals.
The Gulf Radio and Television Corporation of the GCC is a joint GCC media channel established in 1977, following an agreement signed at the Conference of Information Ministers of Arab Gulf States in Riyadh.
Gulf Radio and Television initiated media training in 2002, approved by 13th GCC information ministers meeting. Since 2005, the agency has organised specialised training courses for member bodies and implemented them in the Council countries.
