Muscat,
The Oman Journalists Association is set to commence the proceedings of the Child Journalism Charter Forum at the headquarters of the Omani Journalists Association, starting on Monday. The forum is held under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Mona bint Fahad bin Mahmoud Al Said, Assistant to the President for International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University, and the President of the Children First Association.
Organized in collaboration with the office of Dr. Ahmed Al Juhari for Legal Advocacy and Consultations, the forum brings together various entities and institutions specializing in child media affairs in the Sultanate.
The forum encompasses seven working papers divided into two axes. The first axis, titled “Objectives of Enforcing the Child Journalism Charter,” includes four key papers. These papers outline the objectives of the Oman Journalists Association in activating the Child Journalism Charter. The lead presenter for these papers is journalist Zainab Al Zadjali, a member of the board of directors of the Oman Journalists Association and the director of the Child Journalism Charter Forum.
The second paper in this axis discusses the significance of incorporating the Child Journalism Charter into Omani law. This will be presented by Dr. Ahmed Al Juhari, a legal consultant from the office of Dr. Ahmed Al Juhari for Legal Advocacy and Consultations.
The third paper, “Efforts of the Ministry of Information in Enhancing Child Programs,” will be presented by Hala Al Mashari, the Director of General Channel at the Ministry of Information. The final paper in this axis explores writing for children, examining the balance between commercial investment and cultural pursuit. This session will be led by writer Amama Al Lawati, with the media session moderated by Dr. Hanan Al Kindi.
The Oman Journalists Association invites all interested parties, institutions, and media professionals to attend this forum, which aims to enrich the dialogue surrounding child journalism and contribute to the development of child-focused media programs in the Sultanate.
