Oman has been classified among the top five Arab countries in the Global Talent Competitiveness Index for 2023. The index is issued by the European Institute for Business Administration (INSEAD), headquartered in France.
Oman secured the 59th position globally in a list featuring 134 countries worldwide, achieving a score of 45.82 points. The country was ranked alongside the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia as the top Arab nations in talent competitiveness, concerning talent enablement and retention.
Switzerland led the index, followed by Singapore. Chad was placed at the bottom of the rankings, preceded by the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia.
INSEAD clarified that the index is a comprehensive annual reference report that measures how countries and cities foster talent attraction and retention, highlighting the competitive capabilities of global talents. It provides a unique resource for policymakers to understand their global talent competitiveness and develop strategies to enhance their economies. The 2023 report encompasses 134 countries across all income groups.
The report also cautioned that artificial intelligence could exacerbate the skills gap, with unskilled or low-skilled labor facing additional pressures. In contrast, new categories of workers, some with higher skills, may face stronger competition from algorithms and specialized machines.
This accomplishment reflects Oman’s commitment to developing its human resources and creating a competitive environment for talent and skills.
