OIA Announces Social Investment Policy, Launches “Qimam” Platform
Muscat: A new circular issued by Oman’s Ministry of Finance has called for expatriates employed in the country’s government sectors to be replaced by Omanis, so that they can contribute to the development of the Sultanate.The order for Omanisation of government sectors will have its implementation costs included in the 2021 budget estimates, which need to be submitted by July 2020. The circular has also said that the replacement of expats with Omanis will need to be done in a speedy and organised manner.
The contents of this directive were part of Circular No. 14 for the year 2020 on the application of the Omanisation policy and replacement of expatriates by qualified Omani citizens in government companies, that was issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The circular comes within the context of the government’s attention to upgrading the skills of Omani citizens to enable them to contribute efficiently to the comprehensive march of domestic development, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The statement explained that recent reports issued by the State’s Financial and Administrative Audit Institution indicate the presence of a number of expatriates who occupy leadership and supervisory jobs in government firms.
The Ministry of Finance said that government companies are considered an attractive environment that can accommodate qualified Omani job seekers, said the statement, noting that the companies have good potential to execute the government’s Omanisation policy.
