KATARA TO HOLD SEVERAL WORKSHOPS DURING SUMMER

Doha: Katara is hosting an array of workshops during July as part of its summer programme. The “Introduction to crochet – Toy hedgehog” by artist Esther de Veuve, will be held from July 2-3, followed by “Introduction to over-sized knitting” workshop from July 7-8 at Katara Art Studios in building 19.

The crochet workshop, open for boys and girls above 12 years of age, will be conducted in English from 10 am to 12noon and the fee is QR400 per person.

“Katara aims to help develop the skills of amateurs and handicraft enthusiasts, besides opening doors for the youth to learn useful skills in such fields,” a press release announcing the workshop said.

Maj Gen Al Matroushi welcomed the participants and expressed his appreciation for Dubai Media Office’s initiative and its efforts to organise the workshop. Al Matroushi said: “The information disseminated by the media and strategic communication efforts play important roles in defusing a crisis. They complement the role of the Civil Defence and other bodies during and after the crisis. The media is responsible for conveying accurate information and guiding the public.”

To provide diversity for the public, the workshop “Paper Die Cut – Kirigami” by artist Mariam Al Obeidy will run from July 13-14, 5-8pm for both genders from age 15 and above.
