The cultural identity forms a fundamental pillar for the cognitive and creative growth of children through various stimuli and components surrounding them, most notably those interacted with daily through “home, school, and society.” This includes elements inspired by the Islamic religion and its tolerant creed. In the Sultanate of Oman, numerous influences add to these components and stimuli, shaping the cultural identity. These influences extend to cognitive aspects linked to the authentic Omani culture rooted in ancient times, the accumulated human knowledge-based history, traditions, and the recognized Omani traits. All of this comes within a cognitive context presented in forms that children can comprehend to construct their identity in the realm of literature. For instance, poetry, theater, short stories, anthems, and other literary expressions are among the vocabulary available.
Several specialists emphasize the potential additions to the cultural identity in children’s literature in Oman through literary and scientific stimuli and possibilities. They also point out the challenges facing the identity amid the informational interplay in open cultural spaces.
