(BNA): Bahrian participated in the Senior Officials Meeting of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Central Asian countries.The meeting came in preparation for the upcoming second Joint Ministerial Meeting scheduled for April 15, 2024, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The Bahrain delegation at the meeting held virtually was led by Ambassador Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Chief of Asian and Pacific Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation included Khalid Ali Al Malki, Acting Chief of GCC Affairs at the ministry.
Discussions during the meeting centered around the progress achieved in the Joint Action Plan for the Strategic Dialogue between the GCC and Central Asian countries. This action plan was endorsed by the foreign ministers of both sides during their inaugural meeting on September 6, 2022, at the headquarters of the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed regional and international issues of common concern, developments in regional security. It also discussed recommendations put forth by technical teams for consideration at the ministerial meeting, the draft of a joint final statement, and arrangements for the GCC-Central Asia Summit to be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, in 2025.
