(ONA) — The total employment rate in the government and private sectors during the third quarter of 2023 stood at 87%, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Labour.
The ministry considers the employment percentage as quite satisfactory in meeting the goals set for its national plans aimed at enabling Omani jobseekers to join the labour market.
The indices quoted by the ministry show that, in the government sector, a total of 10,000 jobseekers out of a target number of 13,050 received employment, either by undertaking fresh jobs or occupying seats left vacant by expats. In the private sector, the ratio of the same was 11,165 (employed) to 16,000 (target number).
The Ministry of Labour accords attention to the issue of employment, deemed a basic pillar of the national economy. It acts in partnership with the departments concerned to generate employment opportunities for jobseekers through national plans based on Royal directives.
