Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sonmez stated on Tuesday that Turkey and Kuwait share a lasting friendship rooted in common values and fraternal ties. Speaking at the National Day event celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Turkish Republic, she remarked: “Our partnership, which began modestly six decades ago but actually traces back hundreds of years, has blossomed into a deep and enduring relationship.”
The event was attended by guest of honor Khalifa Al-Ajeel, Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry. In her opening speech, Ambassador Sonmez emphasized that under the visionary leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the strong ties between Turkey and Kuwait have been further strengthened, with aspirations to reach new heights across all fields. She affirmed that the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait remains dedicated to fostering these connections and supporting initiatives that benefit both nations.
Ambassador Sonmez also highlighted the solidarity and close collaboration that Turkey and Kuwait have demonstrated during challenging times. As part of the celebration, a Khatt Exhibition, featuring artworks from renowned Turkish calligraphists, was displayed at the reception hall. The artworks were presented in collaboration with the SalSabeel Charity Society to support the victims of the February 2023 earthquake disaster in Turkey.
