(BNA): Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, the Chairman of the Shura Council, joined by council members and the Secretary-General, planted trees on Council grounds as part of the National Tree Week, launched by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to support Bahrain’s National Action Plan for carbon neutrality.
Al Saleh highlighted that Bahrain’s commitment to expanding green spaces and promoting environmental responsibility, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, underscores a national effort to build awareness around environmental preservation. He commended the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s initiative, which supports Bahrain’s goal to reach 3.6 million trees by 2035 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
He further emphasised the council’s commitment to preserving green spaces and enhancing plant life across Bahrain, supporting national climate goals and improving local conditions.
The chairman also praised the collaborative efforts of civil society and relevant institutions to raise public awareness about tree species suited to Bahrain’s climate, contributing to the Kingdom’s climate resilience objectives.
