The Salalah Future Industries Forum, organised by Salalah Free Zone, kicked off today in the Wilayat of Salalah, Dhofar Governorate. The two-day event seeks to promote investment and economic development.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Marwan Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, who honoured the forum speakers and supporters.
Organized in cooperation with Tazeez International Foundation, the forum will focus on industries of petrochemicals, food processing and pharmaceutical industries. Visual displays to be presented during the forum will highlight investment opportunities, comparative advantages and nascent sectors in Dhofar Governorate.
Dr. Ali Mohammed Tabouk, CEO of Salalah Free Zone, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that industrial activities constitute the highest percentage of projects in the free zone. “As many as 75 industrial projects are now in the operational and implementation stages, with a total investment volume of more than RO 4.2 billion,” he added.
Three working papers will be presented at discussion panels during the forum. The first addresses infrastructure, logistical advantages and investment opportunities in the petrochemical sector in Salalah.
The second deals with the role of Salalah in global investments in the food industry.
The third elaborates on prospects of high returns for investment in the pharmaceutical industry in Salalah. It will also underscore the significance of Salalah’s proximity to emerging markets and international shipping lines.
The forum includes various visual presentations on how to maintain the sustainability of companies operating in the labour market, innovation and the advantages of investment in the Sultanate of Oman.
The participants will go on field visits to industrial projects in the Salalah Free Zone.
