Amman,
(BNA): Members of the Council of Representatives, MP Eman Hasan Showaiter and MP Hanan Mohamed Fardan, are participating in a conference to launch the Arab Parliamentary Women’s Document, hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Amman from October 20 to 21.
The conference is organised by the Arab Parliament, in coordination with the Ministerial Committee for the Arab Women’s Empowerment, UN Women, and the United Nations.
The event will provide participants with the opportunity to review the key provisions of the document and engage in discussions on its content prior to its official launch.
The Arab Parliamentary Women’s Document, which was approved by the Arab Parliament in January 2024, consists of 16 articles across five main chapters.
It focuses on empowering Arab female parliamentarians, building their capacities, enhancing their public engagement, and increasing opportunities for women to contribute to parliamentary work.
Additionally, it addresses the role of Arab parliaments in supporting and empowering women politically, economically, socially, within the family, technologically, and digitally.
The document also covers ways to care for and protect women in exceptional circumstances such as armed conflicts, displacement, refugee situations, natural disasters, and crises.
